The Story of the Cottage

A Hygge holiday cottage in Long Melford, Suffolk

– Welcome to my cosy cottage –

I knew the moment I walked through the door of 3 Tudor Cottages that I had not only found my perfect holiday home, with its immense character and charm, but also my perfect holiday location in this quintessentially English village of Long Melford.

There was just one small snag, the cottage was already under offer with other buyers, but, due to a bit (or perhaps a lot) of luck they pulled out on the day before they were due to exchange contracts and so the cottage became mine.

I spent the following year decorating, replacing carpets, installing a new bathroom, buying beautiful furniture – the Loaf sofa was probably a little extravagant – and replacing some of the oak beams in the medieval loft which was terrifyingly expensive as they had to be purchased from Italy (this is almost certainly my last listed property purchase EVER).

– The perfect weekend away holiday cottage –

My aim was to create a cosy, romantic and stylish home that would be perfect for stays all year round. With it’s Hygge fireplace for the cosy winter months and a romantic, floodlit courtyard garden for outdoor summer living the cottage is a great place to stay whatever the season.

My two great hobbies in life are walking my loveable pooch and painting which is why I allow one small dog to stay and why I provide painting materials should you be inspired by my art which adorns the walls.

Now, I would like to welcome you to come and stay and to discover for yourselves beautiful Suffolk countryside living, with galleries, bistros, restaurants, boutiques, antique shops, the magnificent Holy Trinity church, the historic Kentwell Hall and Melford Hall, all within walking distance of my cottage.
